No. The app is designed for videos hosted within Shopify, including product media and supported Shopify files. It cannot write metadata to externally hosted YouTube or Vimeo videos.
Descriptive metadata can provide useful context for accessibility tools and help search systems understand the subject of supported video media. It does not by itself guarantee accessibility compliance, rankings, indexing or traffic.
On the Bring Your Own Key plan, the documentation states that API credentials are encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption, decrypted server-side only when required for a request and not logged in plain text. You can update or remove the key through the app settings.
Yes. The current free plan includes three video optimisations so you can test the workflow before selecting a paid subscription.
The optimisation work is handled through Shopify's backend rather than by loading a customer-facing JavaScript library. As with any app, test your storefront after installation and monitor performance through your normal quality checks.
Yes. Review generated changes in the app's recent activity and edit supported media metadata through Shopify admin when you want to refine the wording.
There is no guaranteed timetable. Search engines decide when to recrawl a page and whether to use its updated metadata. Timing can vary according to crawl frequency, site quality, internal linking and other technical signals.
Metadata already written to supported Shopify media is intended to remain after uninstalling. Automatic processing for newly added videos and access to the app workflow will stop.
