A short look at App Health Check, coming soon from Amethyst Apps: it finds every app on your Shopify store that still relies on script tags, names each one and tells you what to do before they stop loading on 1 March 2027.

Know which apps will stop working before your customers do.

Shopify won't warn you when script tags stop loading, and it doesn't show which of your apps still use them. App Health Check finds them, names them and tells you what to do, so nothing quietly disappears from your store.

01

Every app at risk, in seconds

App Health Check reads your live storefront and lists every app still adding its code with script tags, the method Shopify stops loading on 1 March 2027.

02

Named apps, plain advice

Scripts are matched to the apps that added them, so you see real app names rather than code. Each one comes with clear advice: update it, ask the developer or replace it.

03

A ready-made message for the developer

One click gives you a message to send each app's developer, asking whether their app will be updated in time. Copy it into an email or the app's support chat.

04

App embeds that are switched off

It also checks your live theme for app embeds that are installed but switched off, which often happens after a theme change, so apps you pay for aren't quietly doing nothing.

From first check to sorted in four steps

App Health Check does the detective work. You decide what to update, replace or leave.

Open the app and it checks your storefront in a few seconds. Run it again whenever you like.

  3. Sort out each app

Follow the advice for each app at risk: update it, switch on its app embed, send the developer the ready-made message or find a replacement.

  4. Let monitoring keep watch

Turn on weekly monitoring and we'll check your store every Monday and email you if anything changes, right up to 1 March 2027 and beyond.

Frequently asked questions

App Health Check FAQ

What does App Health Check do?

It checks your Shopify store for apps that still add their code using script tags, the older method Shopify stops loading on storefronts from 1 March 2027. It lists each app by name with plain advice on what to do, and also flags app embeds that are switched off in your live theme.

What is changing on 1 March 2027?

Shopify is retiring script tags in favour of app embeds. Since 1 October 2026 apps can no longer add new script tags, and from 1 March 2027 Shopify stops loading them on storefronts. Any feature an app still adds this way, such as review stars, chat or pop-ups, simply disappears from your store, with no warning or error.

Can't I see this in Shopify?

Not easily. Script tags are hidden from you, they don't appear in your theme editor, and Shopify doesn't show which of your apps still use them. App Health Check reads your live storefront to find them and matches each one to the app that added it.

Will it change my store or theme?

No. App Health Check only reads your public storefront and your live theme's settings. It never changes your store, adds code to your theme or slows your storefront down.

What do I do if an app is at risk?

Check the app is up to date first, as many developers are moving to app embeds now. If it still uses a script tag, send the developer the ready-made message from the app to ask when it will be updated. If they have no plans to, look for a replacement before 1 March 2027. We can also help fix your store: just get in touch.

How much does it cost?

Checking your store is free, as often as you like. Weekly monitoring is $4.95 USD every 30 days after a 7-day free trial, and emails you if anything changes. Billing is handled through Shopify.

When will it be available?

App Health Check is being prepared for the Shopify App Store. This page will link directly to the listing as soon as it is live. If you would like to hear when it launches, or need your store checked sooner, get in touch through our support page.
