Where it began

Built in the warehouse, not the boardroom

Amethyst Apps did not begin as an abstract software idea. It grew from the everyday experience of running an ecommerce business: managing products, correcting shipping rules, improving visibility and trying to make good decisions with limited time.

As a merchant, I repeatedly encountered apps that were more complicated than the problem they were meant to solve. Some were difficult to understand, some added unnecessary work and others simply did not reflect how a growing store operates.

I started building the tools I wanted to use myself—focused products that solve one recognisable problem well and communicate clearly about what they are doing.

Modern managed infrastructure and carefully designed systems handle the repetitive operational work behind the apps. That leaves more time for product quality, documentation and direct merchant support.

The aim is not to build the largest possible catalogue. It is to develop a growing collection of dependable products, each with a clear reason to exist.
