You spend weeks getting a new collection ready, you press publish, and then you wait. Sometimes for days, sometimes for weeks, before the products show up in Google. Shopify doesn't tell you which product pages are still missing, so it's easy not to notice.
Why new products take time to appear
Most Shopify stores rely on the XML sitemap. Google reads it from time to time, but not every hour, and it chooses which pages to crawl first. A new product can sit in the sitemap for a while before Google visits it, and even then Google may decide not to add it to the index straight away. That gap between a product going live and it being findable in search is lost sales.
What Search Index Manager does
We built Search Index Manager to show you which product pages are missing from Google and to get them crawled sooner. It connects to your own Google Search Console and works in three steps:
- It checks every published product page each day. Each one shows as In Google, Not in Google, Blocked, Page not found, Duplicate or Redirects.
- It tells you why. For pages that aren't indexed you see Google's reason in plain English: not found yet, discovered but not visited, or crawled but not added.
- It sends the missing pages. Pages that aren't in Google go into a priority queue and are sent every day to Google's Indexing API and, through IndexNow, to Bing, Microsoft Copilot, Yandex and others.
Sensible sending
- Daily allowance: each store sends a set number of pages a day, starting with the ones that matter most.
- No repeat nagging: a page is only sent again if it still isn't indexed a week later.
- Fix first: pages that are Blocked or Page not found aren't sent, because they need fixing before sending would help.
- Activity view: see which of the pages you sent are now indexed.
Product FAQs too
The app can also write FAQs for each product with AI, using only your own title and description. You can edit them, and they appear on your store through the Product FAQs theme app block. FAQ structured data is only added when the FAQs are visible on the page.
What it can't do
No app can force Google to index a page. Google decides whether and when to index each page, and other search engines decide for themselves. Search Index Manager makes sure Google knows about your new products and shows you what's holding the rest back, so you can fix it.
