How it works

Check. Fix. Track.

The technical analysis happens in the background. You get clear, practical answers in plain English.

01

Check your website

Run a Whole-site check. IndexStream reads each page the way search engines and AI assistants do. Account, cart, login and translated copies of pages are skipped automatically, so your credits go on the pages that matter.

02

Fix what matters

Get a Visibility Health score and an Action Plan: one plain-English action per type of problem, such as "Add descriptions to 14 images", instead of hundreds of separate alerts.

03

Track progress

Check again and the report's "Since your last check" section shows how your score moved, what you fixed and what is new. You also get an email when each Whole-site check finishes.

Inside IndexStream

Every fix, page by page, with the words to use

Open any action and IndexStream goes through it page by page, showing Now (what the page has today) and Suggested (what to change it to), including AI-written page titles and search descriptions you can copy. Problems shared across the whole site, such as a logo with no image description, are explained once rather than on every page.

Getting found

Tell Google and Bing about your pages the supported way

Search engines decide what they index and when. IndexStream helps them find and understand your pages sooner, and tells you exactly what is getting in the way.

Google

Sitemap submission through Search Console

Connect Google Search Console and IndexStream finds your sitemap, submits it through Google's official Search Console API after every Whole-site check and once a week, then shows Google's report back: when it was read, how many pages it lists and any errors.

Bing and others

IndexNow, the moment pages change

IndexNow notifies Bing, Yandex, Seznam, Naver and the other participating engines straight away when your pages change. It does not notify Google, which is why sitemap submission matters too.

One-off setup

Your IndexNow key file

IndexNow only works once your key file is on your own website, as proof you own it. IndexStream checks for it and, if it's missing, adds step-by-step instructions to your Action Plan, including the redirect method for Shopify. On WordPress it detects Microsoft's IndexNow plugin and won't submit twice.

What IndexStream checks

The problems that stop search engines and AI assistants using your pages

  • Page titles and search descriptions
  • Image descriptions (alt text)
  • Main headings
  • Structured data (schema), including business details
  • Internal links
  • Thin or out-of-date content
  • Article authors
  • Canonical (main address) problems
  • Pages blocked from search engines
  • AI assistants blocked in robots.txt
  • Mobile setup and insecure content
  • Share images and page language
  • llms.txt
  • Missing sitemap or sitemap errors reported by Google
  • Sitemap pages Google hasn't indexed
  • IndexNow key file missing

Visibility Health (0 to 100) is weighted by how much of your site each problem affects. Problems that block search engines hold the score down in proportion to how many pages they affect.

  • 90+ Excellent
  • 75+ Strong
  • 60+ Good
  • 40+ Needs work
  • Below 40 Poor

Frequently asked questions

Questions about IndexStream

What is IndexStream?

IndexStream is website visibility software. It checks how search engines and AI assistants see your website, gives you a Visibility Health score and an Action Plan in plain English, and shows whether your changes worked.

Does IndexStream submit my pages to Google instantly?

No. Google's Indexing API is only for job postings and livestreams, so IndexStream doesn't use it. Instead it submits your sitemap through Google Search Console and helps you fix the problems that stop Google indexing your pages. Google decides what it indexes and when.

Why do I need to upload an IndexNow key file?

It proves you own the site. Without it, Bing and the other IndexNow engines ignore submissions, so IndexStream pauses them until the file is found and adds the steps to your Action Plan.

I use Shopify. How do I add the key file?

Shopify doesn't allow files at the root of your site, so use the redirect method. Upload the key file under Content → Files, then add a URL redirect from /{yourkey}.txt to the uploaded file's address.

I already have Microsoft's IndexNow plugin on WordPress.

That's fine. IndexStream detects it and won't submit twice. Without the plugin, upload the key file to the root of your site.

Does IndexNow tell Google about my pages?

No. IndexNow reaches Bing, Yandex, Seznam, Naver and the other participating engines. For Google, IndexStream submits your sitemap through Search Console.

Do I need to reconnect Search Console?

Yes, once, if you connected it before sitemap submission was added. The connection now asks for permission to manage sitemaps as well as read search data.

Why did my score change?

See "Since your last check" in your report. It shows what you fixed, what is new and which older problems no longer apply, usually because pages were removed. It also notes when part of a change comes from IndexStream improving its scoring rather than changes to your site.

Why weren't my translated or account pages checked?

They're skipped on purpose to save credits. Account, cart, login and other utility pages, and translated copies such as /fr/ or /de/ versions, are left out automatically.

How do credits work?

One credit checks one page. A free account starts with 5 credits and no card is needed. Each plan includes a monthly allowance, and you can buy one-off packs of 50, 200 or 500 credits, which never expire, if you need more.

How often does IndexStream re-check my site?

It doesn't re-check your site on a schedule, so credits are only used when you ask. You start a Whole-site check whenever you like, and you'll get an email with the score, pages checked and top three fixes when it finishes.

Is IndexStream a Shopify app?

No. IndexStream is a standalone web app that works with any website, including Shopify and WordPress sites.

Can I earn commission by recommending IndexStream?

Yes. The Amethyst Apps Partner Programme opens in a new tab is free to join and pays 20% of every subscription payment and credit pack from customers you refer, for as long as they stay subscribed. Commission is held for 30 days in case of refunds, then paid on the 1st of the month once you reach £10 (or $10), by Stripe Connect, PayPal or bank transfer. Referred customers pay the normal price. See the partner FAQ opens in a new tab for payout details.

Does IndexStream guarantee search rankings?

No. Search engines and AI platforms decide what they index and show. IndexStream helps them find and understand your pages and tells you exactly what to fix, but it cannot guarantee rankings, indexing, traffic or a timescale.
